Abstract |
INTRODUCTION As health education curriculum is established in physical education with the obscure distinction and overlap, the validity of health and safety domain in physical education should be examined. This study was to investigate the validity of current health and safety domain in physical education and to provide future-oriented education content. METHOD The contents which needed revision and supplement by analyzing current physical education textbook of middle and high school, classifying into health and safety domain, and reviewing literature. Then, delphi technique was used twice to collect the experts' opinion. RESULT Only 4 items (26.7%) such as exercise and safety, healthy life, leisure time, and physical growth out of fifteen items of current health and safety domain in physical education textbook were determined as valid domain of physical education teacher. In addition nine times items such as exercise and weight control, exercise with growth and nutrition, exercise and stress, wrong health knowledge about exercise, injury and rehabilitation, exercise and brain health, and exercise and immunity were determined as valid items can be included in health and safety contents. CONCLUSION The content validity of current health and safety domain in physical education was very low and many items need to be revised. Therefore, rapid reformation of middle and high school physical education curriculum is needed. |
