Abstract

INTRODUCTION
The purpose of this study was to investigate the effects of living fitness and activities of daily living on 24weeks lumbar stabilization exercise program using McGill and Sahrmann in elderly women.
METHOD
Forty-one subject were participated in this study(exercise group, n=20, age=72.55±5.70; non exercise group, n=21, age=73.66±4.41). Lumbar stabilization exercise having been done in exercise group was done to be worked out for 60 minutes a day, 3 times per week for 24 weeks. Data were analyzed by Two-Way ANOVA with repeated measure using SPSS.
RESULT
The living fitness profiles were significantly increased in the upper and low strength(p<.001), upper flexibility(p<.01), low flexibility(p<.001), endurance(p<.05), and agility and dynamic balance(p<.05). Also, there were statistically significant differences(p<.05) in flexibility and agility and dynamic balance of both groups. Activities of daily living profiles were significantly increased in ADL(p<.01) and IADL(p<.05) after the lumbar stabilization exercise program. Also, there was statistically significant difference(p<.05) in ADL.
CONCLUSION
This study suggests that lumbar stabilization exercise program using McGill and Sahrmann has an effect on living fitness and activities of dily living in elderly women. Therfore It can be considered as a helpful self-support ability for elderly people.
