Effects of Folk Dance Program on Health Physical Fitness, Pain and Depression in Older Female

Abstract

INTRODUCTION
The purpose of this study was to investigate the effect of folk dance program on health physical fitness, pain and Geriatric Depression in Older Female for 8 weeks.
METHOD
The subjects were classified into group with experimental group(n=34) and control group(n=8) which were 42 older female of 71.95±5.5 years. Experimental group executed 70minutes folk dance program a day on two times per week for 8 weeks. Data were analyzed with ANOVA for repeated measures and paired t-test using SPSS program.
RESULT
The results were as follows; folk dance program has positive effects on older female's waist girth, muscular, flexibility, endurance capacity, heart rate. older female's of MVAS organized, back pain, walking freedom, hard chair. pessimistic thought and unhappiness of experimental group were not improved significantly. Experimental group were not significant on depression of the 6 area of study and total depression measure but decreased. Because of increasing rather depression score of the control group, It is showed that rhythmic exercise has positive effect on depression.
CONCLUSION
Folk dance program for 8 weeks showed positive effects on senior's body composition, health physical fitness, pain, and depression. Folk dance program will be considered as a program for solving the various problems of senior.
