Abstract

INTRODUCTION
The goal of this study was to investigate the variance of the physical fitness and the body composition of 8 mixed martial artists before and after mixed martial art sparrings.
METHOD
The subjects for this experiment were 8 Korean mixed martial artists who implemented sparring of 5 minutes, 3 rounds and 1 minute of rest. Through the tests before and after the sparring, various aspects of fitness such as strength, power, muscular endurance, cardiovascular endurance, flexibility, agility, and equilibrium, and diverse components of body compositions such as weight, body water, body fat, the amount of muscle, and lean body mass were also checked. For the statistical analysis paired t-Test was used and the significance level was P<.05.
RESULT
First, there were no significant differences in fitness such as strength(grip, back muscle), quickness(sargent jump), agility(side step) and equilibrium(standing on one foot with eyes closed), except for muscle endurance(push-up), between before and after the experiment. Second, there was a significant difference in push-up exercise assessing muscle endurance between before and after the experiment(p<.05 ). Third, there were significant differences in body composition such as endurance (p<.05), weight (p<.01), body water (p<.01), body fat (p<.01), the amount of muscle (p<.05), the amount of body fat (p<.01), between before and after the experiment.
CONCLUSION
Overall, it can be concluded that muscular and cardiovascular endurance among the components of fitness and the whole aspects of body composition are important factors in mixed martial art sparring before and after this experiment.
